The 10-foot skiffs were the first class the AHSSA focused on, see the About Page. The first and some of the other early boats built were based on the Balmain 10-footers which raced from1890-1939 but the fleet quickly became dominated by boats based on successful 12-foot skiffs from the late 1940s and early 1950s with lighter laminated hulls and high-peaked rigs. At their peak in numbers in the early 2000s, the fleet declined a little in the late teens with little regular sailing in Sydney, Lake Macquarie or Brisbane. But most boats turn out for the annual Australian Championship, and the fleet of 12 boats which contested the 2026 Championships at Teralba on Lake Macquarie was the biggest for some time and included 2 entries from Victoria for the first time. Results can be found on the News Page.
